whitewashing?

Awhile ago (before DA2 was released, I think) there was a post about how Isabela is paler in promotional art than she is in-game. I recently came across a mod that makes Isabela more fair-skinned, and my only thought is... wtf?

I get that some people want certain changes wrt companions' appearances, but I almost never see (popular or well-done) mods that profess to make characters darker-skinned or that make their outfits less "sexy" or that make their faces less conventionally pretty. It's always making Isabela whiter, or narrowing Aveline's jaw by some ridiculous percentage. The only exception I've found is the mod that gives Isabela pants.

What's the deal? Thoughts? Opinions?
